6) Use of Client Data for Direct Advertising
6.1 Subscribe to our e-mail newsletter
If you register for our e-mail newsletter, we will regularly send you information about our offers. The only mandatory data for sending the newsletter is your e-mail address. The provision of further data is voluntary and will be used to address you personally. We use the so-called double opt-in procedure for sending the newsletter. This means that we will only send you an e-mail newsletter once you have expressly confirmed that you consent to receiving newsletters. We will then send you a confirmation e-mail asking you to confirm that you wish to receive the newsletter in future by clicking on an appropriate link.
By activating the confirmation link, you give us your consent for the use of your personal data pursuant to Art. 6 (1) point a GDPR. When you register for the newsletter, we store your IP address entered by your Internet service provider (ISP) as well as the date and time of registration for the purpose of tracing any possible misuse of your e-mail address at a later date. The data collected by us when you register for the newsletter is used exclusively for the promotional purposes by way of the newsletter. You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time via the link provided for this purpose in the newsletter or by sending a corresponding message to the responsible person named at the beginning. After unsubscribing, your e-mail address will be deleted from our newsletter distribution list immediately, unless you have expressly consented to further use of your data, or we reserve the right to a more extensive use your data which is permitted by law and about which we inform you in this declaration.
6.2 Sending the newsletter to existing customers
If you have provided us with your e-mail address when purchasing products, we reserve the right to regularly send you offers for products similar to those already purchased by e-mail. Pursuant to Section 7 (3) German law against unfair competition, we do not need to obtain separate consent from you. In this respect, data processing is carried out solely on the basis of our legitimate interest in personalized direct advertising pursuant to Art. 6 (1) point f GDPR. If you have initially objected to the use of your e-mail address for this purpose, we will not send you an e-mail. You are entitled to object to the future use of your e-mail address for the aforementioned advertising purpose at any time by notifying the controller named at the beginning of this document. In this regard, you only have to pay the transmission costs according to the basic tariffs. Upon receipt of your objection, the use of your e-mail address for advertising purposes will cease immediately.
6.3 Mautic
We use the open-source software Mautic to manage newsletter subscriptions, newsletter registration forms and related campaigns, and to send our e-mail newsletters. We operate a separate, self-hosted Mautic installation for each of our four websites on our server hosted by IONOS in Germany. The installations are administered on our behalf. We do not use an Acquia-hosted Mautic cloud service.
The information you provide when registering for a newsletter, together with the registration and confirmation records described in section 6.1, is processed in the relevant Mautic installation. The legal bases for sending newsletters are described in sections 6.1 and 6.2. Hosting is provided under the data processing arrangements described in section 3. Use of the self-hosted Mautic software does not in itself involve disclosing your newsletter data to Acquia Inc.
Subject to your express consent pursuant to Art. 6 (1) point a GDPR, we also use Mautic to analyse the success of newsletter campaigns. Tracking pixels or web beacons in e-mails and tracked links enable us to record whether an e-mail has been opened and which newsletter links have been clicked. Depending on the information transmitted by your device, this may include your IP address, the date and time of the interaction, browser information and operating system. These interactions can be associated with your newsletter contact record to help us evaluate campaigns and tailor subsequent communications. Newsletter tracking data is processed in our self-hosted Mautic installation.
You can withdraw your consent to newsletter tracking at any time with effect for the future by contacting the controller named at the beginning of this policy. You can also unsubscribe from the newsletter using the unsubscribe link included in each newsletter.
6.4 Advertising by post
Based on our legitimate interest in personalized direct mail, we reserve the right to store your first and last name, your postal address and - if we have received this additional information from you within the framework of the contractual relationship - your title, academic degree, year of birth and your professional, industry or business name in accordance with Art. 6 (1) point f GDPR and to use this data for sending interesting offers and information on our products by letter post.
You can object to the storage and use of your data for this purpose at any time by sending an appropriate message to the controller.
7) Online Marketing
Hubspot
This website uses the software-based marketing service of the following provider for the provision and synchronisation of various customer management services: HubSpot Ireland Ltd., 2nd Floor 30 North Wall Quay, Dublin 1, Ireland
This service enables the automated processing of feed activities, the control of advertising in the marketing channels used and the analysis of the success of marketing measures, as well as central e-mail marketing and contact management.
To fulfil the various functions, cookies are used, i.e. small text files that are stored locally in the cache of your web browser on your end device and that enable an analysis of your use of the website by us. In doing so, the cookies collect certain information, such as the IP address, the location, the time of the page access.
All of the processing described above, in particular the setting of cookies to read information from the end device used, will only be carried out if you have given us your express consent to this in accordance with Art. 6 (1) point a GDPR. You can revoke your consent at any time with effect for the future by deactivating this service in the „cookie consent tool" provided on the website.
Other legal bases for data processing that apply in the context of specific service functions (such as the requirement for express consent in accordance with Art. 6 (1) point a GDPR when sending newsletters) remain unaffected by this.
We have concluded an order processing agreement with the provider, which ensures the protection of our website visitors' data and prohibits unauthorised disclosure to third parties.
8) Web Analysis Services
8.1 Google Analytics 4
This website uses Google Analytics 4, a service provided by Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, 4 Barrow St, Dublin, D04 E5W5, Ireland ("Google"), which can be used to analyze the use of websites.
When using Google Analytics 4, cookies are used as standard. Cookies are text files stored on your device that enable an analysis of your use of a website. The information collected about your website use is transmitted to Google and processed on its servers. This may also involve the transmission of information to Google LLC in the USA.
According to Google, IP addresses from users in the European Union, Switzerland and the United Kingdom are not logged or stored in Google Analytics. They are used to derive approximate geographical information and then discarded before the measurement data is logged. This does not make all Google Analytics data anonymous: cookie identifiers, device information and usage data may still constitute personal data.
On our behalf, Google uses this information to evaluate your use of the website, compile reports on website activity and provide related analytics services. Our retention settings are two months for event data and 14 months for user data. The retention period for user identifiers is reset when new activity is recorded. Data that reaches the applicable retention limit is deleted through Google’s regular deletion process. These retention settings do not apply to standard aggregated reports.
All processing described above, in particular the setting of Google Analytics cookies for the storage and reading of information on the terminal device used by you for the use of the website, will only take place if you have given us your express consent for this in accordance with Art. 6 para. 1 letter a GDPR. Without your consent, Google Analytics 4 will not be used during your use of the website.
You can revoke your consent once given at any time with effect for the future. To exercise your revocation, please deactivate this service via the "Cookie Consent Tool" provided on the website.
User IDs
As an extension of Google Analytics 4, the "UserIDs" function can also be used on this website. By assigning individual UserIDs, we can have Google create cross-device reports (so-called "cross-device tracking"). This means that your usage behaviour can also be analysed across devices if you have given your corresponding consent to the use of Google Analytics in accordance with Art. 6 para. 1 letter a GDPR, if you have set up a personal account by registering on this website and are logged into your personal account on different end devices with your relevant login data. The data collected in this way shows, among other things, on which end device you clicked on an ad for the first time and on which end device the relevant conversion took place.
We have concluded a so-called data processing agreement with Google for our use of Google Analytics 4, by which Google is obliged to protect the data of our website users and not to pass it on to third parties.
For data transfers to the USA, the provider participates in the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, which ensures compliance with the European level of data protection on the basis of an adequacy decision by the European Commission.
Further legal information on Google Analytics 4 can be found here: https://policies.google.com
Details on the processing triggered by Google Analytics 4 and Google's handling of data from websites can be found here: https://policies.google.com
8.2 Mautic Tracking Pixel
We use the open-source software Mautic to analyse visits to our website and interactions with our content and campaigns. For each of our four websites, we operate a separate, self-hosted Mautic installation on our server hosted by IONOS in Germany. The installations are administered on our behalf. We do not use an Acquia-hosted Mautic cloud service.
Using cookies and comparable technologies, such as tracking pixels, the software can collect information about pages visited, referring pages, the date and time of visits, interactions with tracked links, and device information such as your IP address, browser and operating system. We use this information to analyse website use and the effectiveness of our campaigns. Initially, visits may be recorded under a pseudonymous identifier. If you subsequently identify yourself, for example by submitting a Mautic form or following an individually tracked newsletter link, recorded activity can be associated with your contact record. The resulting data may therefore relate to an identifiable person.
All processing described above, in particular the storage of or access to information on your device, is carried out only if you have given us your express consent in accordance with Art. 6 (1) point a GDPR. You can withdraw your consent at any time with effect for the future by deactivating this service in the "cookie consent tool" provided on the website.
The data is processed in our self-hosted Mautic installation. Hosting is provided under the data processing arrangements described in section 3. Use of this self-hosted software does not in itself involve disclosing the tracking data to Acquia Inc. or transferring it to the USA.
