Reducing our environmental footprint step by step
At ALDUS we care about the environment in everything we do. We strive to reduce our environmental footprint and contribute to building a circular, climate-neutral economy.
With our new Net Zero commercial headquarters, we have taken a major step towards a climate-neutral future. The building is not only home to our offices, converting and logistics in Europe, it is also a symbol for our sustainability commitment.
Equipped with state-of-the-art energy management, the building combines photovoltaic and solar thermal systems combined with geothermal energy, heat pumps, and a CO₂-based heat exchange system to ensure autonomous energy supply on an annual average.
All halls and the office spaces are equipped with underfloor heating and cooling systems to guarantee an optimal climate throughout the building for all employees and staff with the greatest possible energy efficiency. Charging stations for electric vehicles are available for our employees, and even our advertising is waste-free through two large LED video screens on the building.
Energy and Carbon Management: Key topic in our production
Our ALDUS TRANSFER and ALDUS INKS production sites are managed to achieve high energy efficiency and a reduced company carbon footprint. We source carbon-neutral electricity for our ALDUS INKS production in Scotland and manage our ALDUS TRANSFER production in Livingston in line with ISO 14001 while continuously assessing our carbon footprint. For our ALDUS INKS production, we have invested in a new closed loop cooling system to reduce our environmental impact.
Reduce, Reuse, Recycle: Responsible Waste Management
As a leading company in print and packaging, it is a special obligation to us to manage transport packaging and waste responsibly. Several initiatives have been implemented to reduce waste, improve transport efficiency and reuse transport packaging in collaboration with our value chain: From engaging with our suppliers to ensure that shipping containers are loaded with as little empty space as possible and double-stacking 80% of our shipments, to take-back and reuse of packing material, our ALDUS TRANSFER team drives waste reduction in all areas. Of course, the efforts also include our own products: For our transfer products, we have initiated scrap reduction and recycling programs, resulting in approx. 33% material scrap reduction at ALDUS TRANSFER.
